Step Up to the Dream with ONHP

New academic year started with opening of Engineering Skills Development Center, Step Up to the Dream, at Lyceum 25 patronized by PAO OMSKNEFTEKHIMPROEKT (ONHP) for 15 years. The center will train school students and preschool children for the professions of the future. The center will open its doors for lyceum students and young Omsk residents of other general education institutions and will provide them with classes in robotics, designing, 3D modelling and programming.

Mr. Igor M. ZUGA, ONHP CEO, visited the center in the early days of its work. ONHP CEO has joined efforts with children from elementary school to develop a country house project and contested with senior school students in robotic football. According to Mr. Igor M. ZUGA, the center matches the modern education trends. “Time shapes a new image of professions. By 2020, new blue collar professions will emerge in engineering-and-design, industrial design and other creative spheres of activity. According to this trend, Lyceum 25 trains its students from the very young age to work at the industry of the future”.

It is not the first year for Lyceum 25 to be Young Engineers Training Center. Robotics Club initiated and launched by ONHP in this education institution has been the first ever in Omsk. The company has made a gift of special designing sets to the Lyceum. Robotics has gradually become a part of the Lyceum curriculum and a mandatory school subject. Designing and robotics classes begin as early as at elementary school. The classes develop spatial and critical thinking, project and team work skills and 3D-modelling skills.

The Engineering Skills Development Center will enable school students and preschool children to get more acquainted with equipment and machinery operation. The youth is provided with a chance to gain the basic knowledge and competences at school in order to get ready to master professions of the future. The Center has all necessary equipment in its possession. New designing sets of various difficulty levels, program products, 3D-Printer and 3D-pens, graphic tablets, games for spatial thinking and logics development are provided to support the Center functioning. The Lyceum patrons, namely ONHP, have donated three new tables to conduct robotics contests.
