ONHP at the Russian-German seminar on Maritime Spatial Planning

As a part of the Russian-German project supported by the German Federal Environment Agency and the Economic Development Ministry of the Russian Federation the seminar "Environmentally oriented approaches to the use of the space of the Russian part of the Baltic Sea" will be organized in St. Petersburg from 12 to 14 August 2015. The issues to be discussed include the legal, organizational and planned framework conditions of the pilot project on Marine Spatial Planning, as well as methodical aspects of marine planning in the pilot region (the Leningrad region and St. Petersburg).

On the Russian side the seminar will bring together the representatives of the Economic Development Ministry of the Russian Federation, the St. Petersburg Government, the Leningrad Region Government, the Association "North-West" under support of the Special Representative of the Russian Federation in the Northwestern Federal District, Russian Geographical society, as well as specialists of the Research and Design Center of development of the territories and maritime planning of JSC "OMSKNEFTEHIMPROEKT" and Research Institute of Instrumentation of urban development. From German side there will be the representatives of the German Federal Environment Agency and of the Leibniz Institute of Ecological Urban and Regional Development.

The seminar program includes presentations and round-tables on: "Marine spatial planning as a tool for managing of maritime activities" and "Environmental aspects of marine spatial planning", as well as a visiting session in Kingisepp district of Leningrad region with a visit to one of the most modern Russian ports the port "Ust-Luga".
