ONHP Proposes the Solutions for the Development of Area Planning in Russia

From January 29 to January 31, 2015 a session of National Town Planners Guild was held in Rostov-on-Don. The key speaker at this session was P.P. Spirin, Cand. Sc. in Geography, R&D Director, Head of ONHP Research Engineering Center for Area Development and Maritime Spatial Planning (St. Petersburg).

The session was attended by representatives of the executive authorities of the constituent units of the Russian Federation and municipalities, representatives of the Ministry of Economic Development of the Russian Federation. Issues related to the development of area planning in Russia, urban design and development of large cities and metropolitan areas were discussed in the course of the event. Pavel P. Spirin gave a report on the necessity to arrange new clusters of development i.e. agglomerations of infrastructure-industrial type based on the example of the Baltic region.
