Chemical classes in ONHP lab

Teachers of physics, chemistry and biology from Omsk schools got acquainted with the unique opportunities and capacities of ONHP geotechnical laboratory. Mr. Igor M. ZUGA, ONHP CEO, discussed with the teachers possibilities of using the laboratory capacity when arranging teaching and learning process.

In terms of available equipment ONHP laboratory is considered as the most advanced laboratory as on today in the Asian part of the Russian Federation (beyond the Urals). Lab equipment enables to perform different types of research from testing of soil, underground and surface water to the analysis of materials for construction, bitumen-concrete mixtures, instrumental examination of buildings and their individual structures, structural strength and integrity measurement. Laboratory is currently being certified.

Introduction of geotechnical laboratory opportunities to subject teachers was a part of "School-University-Company" education project. Equipment of physics and chemistry classrooms is not always enough for school students to perform complete practical studies of these subjects and project activities. Teachers were suggested to think over the topics for extra-curricular studies and projects which could be implemented together with school students on the basis of the laboratory and to incorporate them into the Academic curriculum for the new school year. According to the teachers, the chance to use the laboratory offers great opportunities for the children to do R&D.

- This is a truly great idea. Our school facilities unfortunately do not enable us to implement some practical things, but we have got a lot of intents and projects. And what is the most important we have children who are interested in not only receiving theoretical skills, but trying to do something by themselves and to feel the process. That is why we will be very happy to take the opened opportunities. We even intend to create a joint project with teachers of chemistry and biology. So far, I do not know exactly what it will be, but we will come up with it and execute the project – said Ms. Angelina Kalashnikova, physics teacher, School No.118 sharing her impressions.
