OMSK SCHOOL STUDENTS OFFERED OPTIONS FOR REFINERY NEIGHBORHOOD IMPROVEMENT

The first season of summer internship in ONHP for Omsk city and region students finished with the defense of projects related to Oil Refinery Neighborhood public spaces improvement.  

During the month, 40 students from city and regional Omsk schools were undertaking on-the-job training in ONHP in the scope of “School-University-Company” Training Program. The past month was quite intense for the trainees – assignments from supervisors, opportunity to try themselves in all engineering disciplines, study of software products enabling to perform various projects, advanced chemistry classes at ONHP Testing Center, lessons of technical English and, of course, various cultural and sports events. On the last day of internship, following a long-standing tradition, a Science & Engineering Technology conference was held giving a platform for school students to defend their first projects. This year, school students could develop design projects for the reconstruction of public spaces in Oil Refinery neighborhood. Students presented their vision of Engineers Boulevard, public garden behind Crystal shopping center and other areas improvement. One of the teams demonstrated a project of a pedestrian overpass at the intersection of Khimikov Street and Prospekt Mira. While preparing the projects, students were required to show acquired skills in various engineering disciplines and software products in real-case situations.

At the end of the season students rating results were announces. 10 out of 40 school students received personal certificates giving them right to undergo an internship in the company after entering a university. In addition, the winners of Go tournament and the best foreign languages poems readers were awarded with diplomas.

Starting from the first of July, the second season of internship began in ONHP. Another 40 young Omsk citizens will try themselves in the role of engineers.
