Successful completion of the first part of an international educational project held in ONHP

First and second phase of an international educational project aimed at Omsk city and region headmasters and teachers professional development conducted by Singapore-based company called Educare International Consultancy held in ONHP was successfully completed. Implementation of this program is performed in the frame of three party memorandum. Investment partner of the project is ONHP.

For a week from August 13 till August 18, 168 leaders of educational institutions, subject teachers and representatives of School for Advanced Studies were undergoing an international educational program at ONHP premises. Educare coaches covered two directions: "Methodical leadership program" for headmasters and "Effective methods of XXI century skills development" for teachers. Omsk region became the fourth region in Russia, where teachers had an opportunity to get acquainted with international educational practices.

“According to my observations over the past seven years of work in the Russian regions which were absolutely different geographically-wise, from Kaliningrad to Vladivostok, I can say that yes, teachers are ready to accept these ideas. Why? Because Russian teachers are very committed to their profession”, said the president of the Union of Teachers of Singapore, Mr. Mike Tiruman, who personally conducted training sessions for Omsk teachers.

Speaking about the methods being presented, Mike Tiruman emphasized that nothing radically new was offered to Russian teachers.

“New federal state educational standards are being introduced in Russia nowadays and they put the same priorities as we do. All our approaches are basically simple tools that any teacher can use to develop required skills in their students. In addition, the technologies that we share are the ones commonly discussed all over the world, rather than something absolutely unique, which Russian teachers never thought of”.

The learning process was very busy all the days. Omsk teachers with great interest fulfilled the tasks offered by Singapore coaches and after each lesson very vividly discussed what was going on.

"The training sessions completely changed my view on teaching", shared Mrs. Oksana AUSHEVA, a mathematics teacher from State Funded Educational Institution, Secondary General School No. 45. "The time we spent at the seminar was invaluable. We were demonstrated very effective techniques. We already use them, but in a slightly different form. As they have been presented to us, they will be more useful. For sure, I will apply them all in my daily activities”.

“Approaches that we see are quite interesting. It is noteworthy that we, in general, use them ... I have been working at school for many years. I would not say that over the years we burn out professionally, but over time the teacher lacks some kind of "doping" in emotions. We need some emotional component with which we will approach our children. At this seminar we get a new "recharge" for productive work. What I like in these methods is that in this way every child will be involved in the learning process, will feel free and important. Children will be interested in learning - that's for sure. But the teachers always need to remember that the game is not a goal in itself, it is a tool to give the child the main thing – knowledge”, says another participant of the Program Mrs. Larisa FOMINYKH, also a mathematics teacher of Gymnasium No.19.

Educare tutors were also impressed by Omsk teachers.

“We see that Omsk teachers are very dedicated to their work. At the seminar it is very easy to see how enthusiastic the participant is. We have already announced lunch, you can already go and have some rest but Omsk teachers continue the discussion in pairs. They enthusiastically explain to each other how to solve this or that problem that we raised at the seminar. Therefore, we are working in Omsk with pleasure - there is a feeling of mutually beneficial process of ideas exchange", says Mike Tiruman.

In September, with the beginning of the school year, Omsk teachers will be able to apply gained knowledge. All participants of the Program are invited to record their lessons using learned techniques. Educare coaches will review all the lessons, after which they will choose 20 most interesting ones. The authors of the best lessons will continue their education in the international program in October. Classes will also be held in ONHP, which is the main ideologist of the educational project and the investment partner of the project.

As being highlighted several times by ONHP CEO, Mr. Igor ZUGA, “for the company it is investments in human capital, in the future, in the younger generation on the success and literacy of which depends the future and achievements of Russia in general”.
