ONHP is to launch language lab for school students

ONHP demonstrated capabilities to improve school students language competences within the meeting with Russian and English language teachers from the patronized schools. The teachers got acquainted with the company’s Language Policy and discussed the ways of using ONHP experience in school curricula.

ONHP is an international company cooperating with licensors and engineering companies of Asia-Pacific Region, Europe and CIS. It is obvious that the company specialists have to speak foreign languages and constantly improve these skills. Language Policy is developed and successfully implemented at the company to improve the international language skills at least to the Intermediate level by means of creating corporate language environment. This task is solved via case-specific approach to English Language studying which includes different training courses for various levels of language proficiency and various target audiences. In addition, English Speaking Days are regularly held in ONHP departments.

The program is unique because it applies not only to the company specialists and the students working at the company but also to the school students undergoing summer on-the-job training. Technical English courses are arranged for these children.

However, not only foreign language skills shall conform to the strictest requirements. The future engineer as a follower of the Russian academic school of engineering and a guardian of high-level professional culture shall be initially literate. The culture of the Russian oral and written communication is an essential part of the professional competence for a modern engineer.

During the meeting the teachers discussed with ONHP specialists the actual ways of using ONHP capabilities to strengthen language training for the children taking classes of STEM disciplines. The school teachers were invited to develop a joint language program with emphasis on studying technical English with elements of terminological analysis in terms of proficiency in the Russian language. It is possible that such program will be included in teaching and learning process already next academic year.

According to Mr. Igor M. ZUGA, ONHP CEO, in the modern society it is the employer who sets requirements for future specialists.

- Our company has international status which defines special requirements to its employees. We are interested in employing skilled personnel. And I am sure that these personnel should start training straight in school, preferably as early as possible. I think that our corporate program School-University-Company implemented jointly with our patronized schools shall reach a higher level. Development of joint education programs is exactly the thing which will help children better adapt to the future profession - said ONHP CEO.
