Creating comfortable environment together

ONHP took on managerial duties and acted as one of the hosting parties of International Research-to-Practice Conference “Spatial Planning = Sustainable Progress”. Russian executive authorities and municipal entities representatives, Russian research engineering institutes and foreign companies took part in this event.

Within presentations speakers reviewed issues of current interest regarding strategic, spatial, social and economic planning, sustainable area development, urban development zoning and maritime spatial planning. ONHP Research Engineering Center experts introduced nine presentations to highly professional audience addressing the most critical and high-priority issues resulting in passionate discussions of spatial planning documents development, linear facilities planning system, land use and development draft rules, urban design regulations and cultural heritage protection security areas projects.    

At ONHP’s invitation representatives from Germany, Switzerland and ONHP’s partners from Serbia – Center for Urban Development Planning (CEP) attended the conference. The day before the conference ONHP and CEP signed Strategic Cooperation Framework Agreement. Within the meeting partners had an opportunity to discuss further collaboration opportunities in Russia and worldwide.

Particular attention was paid to young generation: future architects, civil and structural engineers and designers. Contest to reconstruct embankment was held especially for students from Russian universities. Contestants showed interesting architectural, planning, engineering and technical solutions applicable in real life. Jury gave high opinion in regard to the papers introduced and mentioned creative approach to the tasks. Ms. Maria Reznik (Construction and Architecture Academy named after Vladimir I. Vernadsky) and Ms. Ekaterina Solovyeva (Saint-Petersburg State University of Architecture and Civil Engineering) became Contest winners.

All the participants noted high arrangement level of the Conference and emphasized big importance to hold such wide-ranging events. At the end of the conference key issues and areas of focus for the next year were outlined.
