Senator Meeting with Students from Atyrau Institute of Oil and Gas

Mr. Igor M. ZUGA, Member of the Council of Federation of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, Chairman of the Interim Committee on the Development of the Russian Legislation on Engineering and Engineers’ Activity met the students from Atyrau Institute of Oil and Gas undergoing on-the-job-training in ONHP.

Omsk region may become the main engineering personnel training platform for oil and gas complex of Kazakhstan.

Mr. Igor M. ZUGA, Member of the Council of Federation of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, Chairman of the Interim Committee on the Development of the Russian Legislation on Engineering and Engineers’ Activity held a meeting with the students from Atyrau Institute of Oil and Gas (the Republic of Kazakhstan). Students have undergone internship in ONHP which for many years has been cooperating with the leading Kazakhstan oil and gas companies. For instance, ONHP was a General Designer of 16 process units at Atyrau Oil Refinery.

The Senator shared with future engineers the results of the work being done by the Council of the Federation of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation regarding development of legislation in the field of Engineering and Engineers’ Activity, role of engineers in establishing a competitive state and the steps that have been taken at the state level in Russia and Kazakhstan to support engineers’ activity. In particular, highlighted the MP, issues related to the interaction between the countries in various fields are addressed at the meetings of the Inter-Parliamentary Committee on Cooperation between the Council of Federation and the Senate of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan. At the last meeting held in Omsk on May 12, 2015 ideas of developing integration education were specifically discussed.

Mr. Zuga believes that it is very important to arrange on-the-job-training at the leading oil and gas companies of Omsk for the students from Kazakhstan and to educate youngsters from the neighboring country in Omsk universities in the relevant areas. Such interaction will enable to establish personnel pool for oil and gas industry of Kazakhstan which is, as the Senator emphasized, developing very actively with participation of Omsk designers as well.

- Oil and gas complex is the main resource for Kazakhstan to boost the economy and is intended to play a key role in implementing the strategy of the Republic to enter top 30 of the developed countries - said the Senator.

The Member of the Council of Federation carefully studied the program for students’ internship and even made his own suggestions. In his opinion, English classes should be included, practical component should be strengthened; learning process content shall be extended.

- Students undergoing on-the-job-training have great prospects for further employment at the leading petrochemical companies of the Republic. I suppose that the company where you were undergoing your internship could assist with your employment and employees could provide support in thesis writing, mentioned the Senator. 

According to the MP, the Omsk Region can become the base for engineering personnel training for oil and gas complex of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Nowadays, cooperation between the region and the neighboring state in petrochemical sphere is enhancing significantly. In the long run, it is stipulated to implement a range of significant projects with participation of Omsk companies at the leading petrochemical companies of the Republic i.e. Atyrau Refinery, Pavlodar Oil Chemistry Refinery.
